Explore Shell Key Preserve

801 Pass-A-Grill Way, St. Petersburg Beach , FL 33706

With miles of wilderness and untouched barrier islands, this 1,800 acre preserve is a gem of Pinellas County. It's an important area for bird nesting and recreation, and thus, restricts pedestrian use at the north and south ends. Shuttles leave the mainland at 10 am, 12, and 2 pm. The island is unattended by any staff, so stay safe. Camping is by permit only. Island is also accessible by private boat. Not just another park — Shell Key is an island escape that's the perfect backdrop for boating, kayaking, snorkeling, and camping out under the stars. You can also walk the shoreline in search of shells and come back with tons to use for a new craft or display in your house.
